Fort Lee Office of Emergency Management

Our organization is dedicated to the preparedness of our community for serious
events.  Our volunteer staff is made up of 85 committed volunteers who have
undergone training to further help the citizen's of Fort Lee.
OEM Groups

The Fort Lee Office of Emergency Management is divided up into various groups
all with a specific function.  

Fort Lee RACES - Amateur Radio operators which assist in radio communications
during disaster and emergency situations where normal means of communications
are not available.  Our group has become part of the Bergen County RACES
system to better enhance communications throughout Bergen County.

Pet Shelter Staff - In 2002, the Fort Lee Office of Emergency Management
became the first municipality in the State of New Jersey to develop a “Pet
Sheltering Protocol Manual” as an appendix to the shelter annex of their
Emergency Operations Plan.

Crisis Response Team -  This group is a team of mental health professionals,
clergy, peer counselors and support personnel  who are dedicated to providing
quality crisis/disaster mental health support-psychological first aid, education and,
when indicated, referral - to individuals, groups and/or families, who have been
confronted by a traumatic event, in order to assist them to cope and either
maintain or regain their psychological equilibrium.
